JP Richards has left his role as head of film marketing strategy at Apple, after informing his team of his decision this morning, Deadline can confirm.
Richards joined the company from Warner Bros. Pictures in January last year, overseeing marketing campaigns for movies across the Apple ecosystem and reporting to head of video marketing Chris Van Amburg. While it’s still unclear where Richards will land, we hear that Apple will appoint his replacement in a few weeks.
Richards was part of the team that worked on the marketing of titles such as the starring Tom Hanks BullfinchBenjamin Cleary’s sci-fi drama swan songwith Mahershala Ali, and Cherry with Tom Holland. Previously, he served as co-president of global marketing for Warner Bros., overseeing campaigns there for titles ranging from Creed for Conspiracy, Joker and A star is born.
Prior to his time at that studio, Richards had been at Universal Pictures for over a decade, overseeing digital campaigns for franchises like fast furious and Despicable Me.
